該劇根據馬伯庸的同名小說改編，主要講述了大唐年間，籍籍無名的長安小吏李善德被人設計，無奈中接下送荔枝的高難度差事，從嶺南到長安跨越千里，在極限時間和匱乏條件下完成任務的故事。

In Tang Dynasty, official Li Shande (Lei Jiayin) is framed and forced to deliver fresh lychees from Lingnan to Chang'an—an impossible mission, as lychees spoil within days over the 5,000-mile journey.
To secure his daughter's future, he embarks on the task. Meanwhile, Zheng Ping'an (Yue Yunpeng) arrives in Lingnan investigating a conspiracy. Their paths cross, leading to encounters with merchant leader Amita (Narnaxi), innkeeper Yunqing (An Qi), and others—while facing opposition from Governor He Youguang (Feng Jiayi) and Chief Secretary Zhao Xinmin (Gong Lei). With stakes rising, can they overcome the odds?
